A
Highly Individualized Jungian-Based Tool for the Workplace
The Soul of an Organization Questionnaire
Engaging the Soul @ Work helps organizations to better balance people and profits by asking the questions and teaching the tools to help stop us sleepwalking in our business lives.
“When you look at the organizations over time that have truly made an impact on our world and on our self esteem as individuals, organized religion and government instantly come to mind. Through community service, assistance programs, education, etc., each has made an enormous contribution to the human race.
“Now it's time for Business to make that same positive impact. Corporations have more influence and financial resources than any other. We spend more time at work than anywhere else in our lives. If we really want to change the world, then it has to begin in the world of business. Everywhere I work I come across one person after another who's crying out for a work environment that inspires them. Our current business models weren't originally designed in the best interest of people; they were built for profit. It's now time to balance the two.
“My message is nothing new. It's nothing that we haven't all learned. It's essentially just been forgotten or never built into our way of "doing business." People are ready for a change. People are hungry to be their authentic selves when they're at work. We don't want to check our souls at the door when our personalities enter the office.
“I believe the change revolves around making choices; every minute of every day. We have to choose to make it different within to see the difference on the outside. We have to choose to remember. It's not about blaming "them" for what's wrong at work. It's about seeing value in every person, choosing to love them, and giving what we want to receive.
“We have to begin to look at what it means to be a leader. And I mean leadership in the sense that every one of us is called to be a leader and a follower at various times in our day. When you look at leadership over centuries, basically the 2000 years B.C. was characterized through leadership by physical domination.
"If I could conquer you, you now followed me." Then we moved into the time of A.D. up till today, which has largely been leadership by intellectual domination. "I have all the information and I'll let you know when it's time for you to know." Leadership through intellectual domination is what our current business models are based on as well as our government and religious institutions. We’ve spent many years controlling others by withholding information. That’s where the hierarchical business model stems from.
“But, like it or not, we are moving into a new model for leadership. It is one that’s based on what I call a Wisdom Web. Information has become so accessible to people that we can no longer use that as a way to keep the power. Take a look at the greatest leaders of all time. Whether that's Martin Luther King, Thomas Jefferson, Gandhi or Christ they were all servant leaders. If we are to learn this new dance of being leader and follower, we’re going to need to be highly aware of what everyone brings to the table. Leadership is now about asking questions and really listening to the answers. It's time for all of us to become both leader and follower. Every one of us. Not just ‘the boss.’
“We are reaching an age where people are beginning to look inward for answers. How a person perceives himself can wholly impact how things play out around them. We need to address the lack of value, respect and love that exists in too many work environments today. We need to remember the inherent good that's in all of us.
“The pace at which technology is changing business; the effect the entrance of Generation X and Y will have on the work world; the need to accomplish more at a faster pace; the corporate push to keep people on the edge of their intellectual toes. These are a few of the issues presently creating a whole new list of stresses in the business world. Leaving these unaddressed can create an environment based on fear and apprehension that can eventually bring a company to its knees.”
So...let's engage our souls at work.

“I think my sessions with you, and just listening to you, has helped me in this respect: just to listen to my inner voice again and not keep making excuses and hoping things will get better. Remember the inner peace we talked about? I think, I have it back. I am happy with myself and my actions. I am no longer afraid of what might come next, I am looking forward to the future and it is so much fun going to work that it is hard to say "that's it for the day", because I feel in this environment I can be so spontaneous, open and innovative, all of which I had forgotten I could be. I have said this before in person to you and I will say it again, Thanks for everything you have tried to show us. Most of it was already in us, but we just had forgotten about it. It makes life so much nicer to regain those skills and powers again.”
—ETS@W Coaching Client
Objectives:
As we move into the new century and the increasing pace of work, it is imperative that we find ways for people to connect both to share wisdom and to guide performance. While this can be achieved in a number of community and team building initiatives, the most powerful tool for connecting is one-to-one conversation. In the coaching relationship, one person guides another to perform at increasingly higher levels because they learn to lead from their heart as well as their head. Going on our own personal journey is the only way to know our inner selves well enough to begin to guide others through the dance of leader and follower.
Each coaching session will utilize a framework, which we refer to as Inspirational Coaching. The Inspirational Coaching Model draws on both business and adult learning principles. The model is designed to build from each person’s strengths, while also identifying key areas of change. Each coaching session is built upon a series of questions, which guides a dialogue between the coach and the associate. Examining and gaining commitment to key areas of action closes the coaching cycle. It’s a series of quality conversations that we’re all needing and wanting to have in our lives.
Open
Space Technology
—Facilitating
Large Group Gatherings Around Passion & Responsibility
What is Open Space Technology?
Open Space Technology is one way to enable all kinds of people, in any kind of organization, to create inspired meetings and events. Over the last 15 years, it has also become clear that opening space, as an intentional leadership practice, can create inspired organizations, where ordinary people work together to create extraordinary results with regularity.
In Open Space meetings, events and organizations, participants create and manage their own agenda of parallel working sessions around a central theme of strategic importance, such as: What is the strategy, group, organization or community that all stakeholders can support and work together to create?
With groups of 5 to 1000—working in one-day workshops, three-day conferences, or the regular weekly staff meeting—the common result is a powerful, effective connecting and strengthening of what's already happening in the organization: planning and action, learning and doing, passion and responsibility, participation and performance.
When and Why?
Open Space works best when the work to be done is complex, the people and ideas involved are diverse, the passion for resolution (and potential for conflict) are high, and the time to get it done was yesterday. It's been called passion bounded by responsibility, the energy of a good coffee break, intentional self-organization, spirit at work, chaos and creativity, evolution in organization, and a simple, powerful way to get people and organizations moving —when it's needed most.
And, while Open Space is known for its apparent lack of structure and welcoming of surprises, it turns out that the Open Space meeting or organization is actually very structured—but that structure is so perfectly fit to the people and the work at hand, that it goes unnoticed in its proper role of supporting (not blocking) best work. In fact, the stories and workplans woven in Open Space are generally more complex, more robust, more durable—and can move a great deal faster than expert- or management-driven designs.
What Will Happen?
We never know exactly what will happen when we open the space for people to do their most important work, but we can guarantee these results when any group gets into Open Space:
The good news, and the bad news, is that it works. Good news because it gets people and work moving, bad news because that may mean lots of things are going to be different than before. Wanted things can appear, unwanted things disappear, and sometime vice versa—but that's how life is. In short, then, Open Space brings life back to organization and organizations back to life.
A Highly Individualized Jungian-Based Tool for the Workplace
We all have a desire to be understood, not always agreed with, but truly understood.
INSIGHTS Discovery is a Jungian-based individualized tool used to better understand ourselves and others specifically in a workplace setting. Insights is like a fingerprint of the personality. No two reports are exactly the same.
Developed in Scotland over 15 years ago, Insights has been used extensively across European corporations and organizations.
As we launch INSIGHTS into North America, we offer you a personalized report and a report consultation. Please give us a call at (828.693.0802).
You’ll be amazed at its accuracy and individualization.
What is Insights?
Imagine a time
and place where everyone in your organization shares a common language. A
language that allows them to communicate effectively, with customers and colleagues.
To recognize and value the contributions each individual can make. A language
that makes personal development, empowerment and team-centered leadership
a way of life.
Our journey will take us to a place where all of these things are possible.
Each person in every organization is unique. They bring different styles,
needs and expectations. In these differences are great strengths. The Insights
journey is one of understanding these differences. Understanding more about
self, about others, and how to combine those strengths and build upon them
to ensure you achieve your aims.
The Insights System is the result of hundreds of thousands of hours of research and development. What's more, it has a proven track record in some of the most effective and productive organizations worldwide. Based solidly on the work of the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, the Insights development framework provides you with powerful and practical training programs - on personal, corporate and/or global levels.
This model of understanding is woven through all Insights programs so that they match the needs not just of the organization, but of every person who participates. The Insights approach results in a common language, a common understanding and individual commitment to taking action.
Four Quadrant behavioral models have existed since Hippocrates, in 500 B.C., identified the four “humors.” The Insights system uses four fundamental color energies to represent characteristics, behavioral style and needs. All energies have equal value. Every individual possesses and uses all four energies in different combinations and in varying intensities. The combinations of these energies form the basis of the power of the Insights System.
Cool Blue
People who use this energy are introverted and have a desire to know and understand the world around them. They like to think before they act and maintain a detached, objective standpoint. They value independence and intellect. They prefer written communication in order to maintain clarity and precision, radiating a desire for analysis.
Fiery Red
People who use this energy are extraverted and have high energy. They are action oriented and always in motion. They are positive, reality-oriented and assertive. They are single minded as they focus on results and objectives. They will approach others in a direct, authoritative manner, radiating a desire for power and control.
Earth Green

Insights Discovery Applications
Each person in every organization is unique. Each individual brings different styles, needs and expectations to the workplace, and in these differences lie great strengths. Insights Discovery can help you to identify and harness these strengths to ensure your company achieves its goals.
Information Overview
The INSIGHTS system is based on the lifelong research of noted psychologist Carl Jung. It can launch a journey of personal effectiveness based on self-awareness that can help us understand why each of us thinks, communicates and behaves with our own unique style.
Once you have completed an Evaluator questionnaire (which takes about 20 minutes), a personalized informative report is generated that will help YOU clearly understand:
This report provides insight into one’s conscious and unconscious behavior and thinking styles… the way we habitually orient ourselves in the world… and how all the traits that make up our persona formulate our behaviors and actions.
The report also generates feedback on our “shadow” side… our personality characteristics that are not part of our usual way of being in the world, and are more or less alien to our own sense of identity. Sometimes we employ some of these behaviors when under stress or in unfamiliar situations.
The INSIGHTS system has been used successfully to accomplish the following goals:
Corporate Effectiveness

The definition of “Soul” for these purposes means the part of you or your organization that deals with what matters most to you. There’s always external things in our lives that we do because we have to. Our soul is the part of us that asks for greater purpose in why we do what we do in our lives.
0-4: Your soul is endangered by your work which is harmful to your well-being. Our hope is to bring the voice of your soul back to life again
5-8: Your work is beginning to stir your soul; continue to nourish this here. By doing so, you will regenerate yourself.
9-12: Your organization makes a valuable contribution to your soul. There is much to do but you are on your way. The prospects for a fusion between your soul and your work are excellent.
13-16: Your workplace is becoming a community of inspired people, in which your soul can soar. We encourage you to bring some of that energy to share with everyone.
17-20: In your organization, work is a soul-filled practice. Your are in that unusual space where the work you do is aligned with what you’re called to do in your life.
